What They Said

"This is an exciting time for the Foundation and the insurance industry as a whole. The launch of the Midwest Division, centered in Chicago, is a key accomplishment in building out the national presence of the Industry Foundation. Chicago is one of the most important insurance hubs in the nation. We welcome Chicago’s leadership in our efforts to establish a united, industry-wide philanthropic voice."
’Äì Pina Albo, President, Munich America Reinsurance and IICF National Board Governor

Because of You: Your Dollars at Work

Granting the Opportunity for Education

Many of America’s 2 million homeless youth find themselves delivered into homelessness not by their own actions, but through adverse circumstances imposed upon them. Many young people are left with nothing after the loss of a parent. Others are forced onto the streets to escape a life of mental and physical abuse by a parent or guardian. Too old for the foster care system, America’s homeless youth find themselves isolated - without a system of support or the educational tools to lift themselves out of their desperate situations.

Working to break the cycle of homelessness by providing a safe refuge, education, and career training is Covenant House NJ. As the largest provider of services to homeless and at risk adolescents under the age of 22 in the state, Covenant House NJ served over 1000 youths in 2010. This year, the IICF New York-Northeast Division awarded a $50,000 grant to Covenant House so they could hire their first full-time teacher. Learn More

The IICF Moves into the Midwest

Eighteen years ago, six philanthropically-minded San Francisco insurance executives came together with a simple idea ’Äì unite and harness the strengths of the insurance industry to positively impact the local community. This simple, but powerful notion became the catalyst for a unique, philanthropic movement, uniting the insurance industry (its employees, executives, and industry supporters) through the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation. From its early San Francisco beginnings, the IICF has grown and evolved into a nationally recognized industry foundation, helping communities coast to coast. Today, the Foundation continues its national expansion, proudly welcoming its third operating division serving the Midwest region. Centered in Chicago, the Midwest Division marks another milestone for the Foundation in its efforts to help communities and enrich lives while serving as the philanthropic voice for the industry.
