VOLUNTEER WEEK
Volunteer Week is our most visible program that allows the insurance industry to take a leadership role in community involvement. The program provides a unique opportunity for teams of insurance industry leaders, employees, family members, and strategic partners to take part in service projects that benefit nonprofit agencies right in their own communities. The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation works as a liaison to match each volunteer team with the greatest needs of their local communities and nonprofit agencies. Since 2001, Volunteer Week has generated over 100,000 hours of service throughout the state of California and the western United States. In 2010 the New York Division will take part in Volunteer Week for the first time ever. Last year alone, over 2,000 insurance industry representatives from across the state donated over 12,000 hours in one week through this program. With the addtion of New York we expect to almost double those hours!
However, the greatest accomplishments are not quantifiable. They are the hot meals, warm beds and comforted hearts that have allowed someone to survive another day and grasp a future filled with hope. Volunteer Week projects are usually scheduled in half-day increments during weekdays and weekends.
