New York (September 29 2014) – The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) has named Dr. Robert P. Hartwig, CPCU, economist and president of the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.), to its National Board of Governors.
"The I.I.I. has been a longtime supporter of the IICF, and we are thrilled to have Dr. Hartwig's representation on the National Board of Governors," said Bill Ross, CEO of the IICF. "His deep ties within the industry and wide-reaching knowledge of the insurance landscape will bring invaluable guidance to the IICF, as well as our community and industry initiatives.
Dr. Hartwig joined the I.I.I. in 1998 and has focused his work on improving the understanding of key insurance issues across all industry stakeholders. Prior to his current role, he was the organization's chief economist. Before joining the I.I.I., Dr. Hartwig worked as the director of economic research at the National Council on Compensation Insurance and as a senior economist at Swiss Reinsurance Group. He is a member of the American Economic Association, the American Risk and Insurance Association, the National Association of Business Economics, and the CPCU Society.
The IICF's National Board of Governors is responsible for managing the organization's national endowment fund as well as establishing overarching strategy and plans throughout the IICF's national and regional footprints. Comprised of 20 senior leaders from across the insurance industry, the board is chaired by Gary Petrosino of Chubb.
